How often should I change my oil?

Synthetic oil should be changed every 5,000 miles, while regular oil should be changed every 3,000 miles.

What should the tire pressure be on my car?

Your vehicle manufacturer gives recommendations to what your tires should be inflated to, but should be no more than what the recommendation is of your tire manufacturer.

You can find the PSI (pound per square inch) specifications usually listed on the inside of the driver’s door and on the side of the tires.

How long do spark plugs last?

This depends on the type of spark plugs that are in your vehicle. If your vehicles is 15 years or older, then typically will have standard plugs with a life expectancy of 12,000 to 15,000 miles. If your vehicle is a newer model up to model year 2000 then the spark plugs usually last 30,000 miles. Model years 2001 and newer vehicles come with plugs that can last up to 90,000 miles.

How often should I change the timing belt on my car?

You should always refer to your owner’s manual regarding recommended mileage details for timing belt maintenance. As a rule, it is normally every 60 – 90,000 miles. If you are unsure of your need to replace the timing belt or when it is recommended to do so, you should consult one of our technicians for a diagnosis.

When should I rotate my tires?

To extend the life of your tires, you should rotate your tires every 6,000-9,000 miles. This will ensure proper wear and keeps you and your loved ones safe.

My engine light comes on, what should I do?

Aside from when you first start your car, when the standard safety test of all the dashboard lights is run, you should not ignore this light. If the engine light comes on and stays on you should call your mechanic immediately and take your car in to be checked. This light is a warning that something is wrong. It might be a small thing or it might be a big thing. This is not a time to be in denial!

What dashboard lights should I worry about and which are just precautions?

Have your vehicle inspected right away if any of the following lights are on: Engine light, Oil light, ABS light, Traction light, Tire Pressure light. These lights are on your dashboard for a reason and that reason is typically that there is an issue with that particular system. Do not ignore them!

Why are there different types of oils?

Synthetic oils are premium, high concentrated lubricants. They are for all vehicles and provide higher mileage allowing for changes around 5,000 miles. Regular oil works just as well as synthetic oils when it is changed on a regular basis (every 3,000-5,000 miles).
